Project structure
The EuroFAANG RI project aims to streamline interdisciplinary capabilities for G2P research in terrestrial and aquatic farmed animals and provide further transnational access to all the relevant facilities, expertise and knowledge to European stakeholders in the future. It draws on the research infrastructures available in the initial project group and aims to expand from there.
The EuroFAANG RI project works on developing and conceptualising a framework of knowledge hubs, repositories, biobanks and experimental facilities to realise the full potential of Genotype-to-Phenotype (G2P) research across species.
Work package 1
WP1 oversees coordination of concept development for the EuroFAANG infrastructure.

Work package 2
WP2 is focused on providing transnational access to the EuroFAANG infrastructure.

Work package 3
WP3 defines the data handling expectations, data access
requirements, conformation with data standards and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable)
principles of all users of the EuroFAANG infrastructure.

Work package 4
WP4 tackles the main barriers that preclude a more
widespread and harmonised use of in vitro cellular models for fundamental and pre-competitive G2P research
in terrestrial and aquatic farmed species.

Work package 5
WP5 aims to develop a framework for sharing and expanding capabilities
in genome editing as a route to application of FAANG data for understanding the genotype to phenotype link
in farmed animals.

Work package 7
WP7 aims to demonstrate the added value of EuroFAANG in the current landscape of European Research infrastructures and will enable the EuroFAANG infrastructure to become a reference for researchers and breeders for farm animals.infrastructures (RIs) in the ESFRI Roadmap.

Work package 8
WP8 is focused on achieving the steps that are needed to ensure the longevity of the EuroFAANG
infrastructure. This includes ensuring that EuroFAANG is embedded in farmed animal resources as part of the
next version of the ESFRI Roadmap in 2025.
